A Sister's Love

So I am reflecting on life and not sweating the little things. I was talking with my sister on the fear of getting older and life balance.

I said I noticed that we are the backbone to the household. We take care of everyone and the last person is always ourselves.

She retired 3 years ago and had problems breathing. Being persistent with her doctor who kept dismissing it they found that she had lung cancer. She had surgery and a portion of her lung was removed. She thought it was cut out, gone, that's it. Her frustration over being tested, going for follow up appointments finally hit home that you're not clear yet.

It made me think that we all should take better care of ourselves, get all preventive care, and to lean on each other for support. Also be persistent with your doctors for testing.

I wrote a poem for my sister called "C" I Hate You and published in my book "Loving Me" . I read it to her while she was in the hospital and again when she recovered. She smiled at her little sister and a tear ran down her cheek.

Be Blessed

Very touching. My sister and I are close like that... though she is 15 years older than I, we have this "Big Sister-Baby Sister" kind of thing going on. Thanks to God's blessings we have never been faced with any health issues that would test our strength, but we have had our challenges and passed many tests. Losing my Mom at 11 and having "Big Sister" (who had 5 kids of her own) step in and be Mom and sister presented its challenges. God is good, he knew what he was doing... and I am thankful everyday he gave me a tower of strength like my sister!
