Presented each year during Black Music Month by Memphis community radio station WYXR, The DOWD Awards celebrate Black creatives and community leaders whose legacies inspire across generations. From airwaves to classrooms, bandstands to boardrooms, these remarkable Memphians have shaped the soul of the city through music, mentorship, and community service.
